Souvenirs

Close to the end of my time with Nenita, and before Christmas day 2019, my cousins and I went to a town close to ours, where Bagasbas beach is. Notorious for its waves and underwater current, we usually come just to walk by the shore and watch surfers.

I brought all the baskets that I’ve made with Nenita so far, including the D-mat, to take photos as part of my documentation.

We arrived in the afternoon around 4. The winds were strong that the baskets were not able to stand. Close to the sea wall, I found some coconut husks washed up ashore, put them inside like anchors that held the baskets/vases down.

I also tried recreating the photos at home, on our front lawn…

As the sun was setting around 6, we took it as cue to go, emptied the baskets of coconuts and dusted them of sand. These souvenirs would always remind me of this special time at home.
